Press of Gold Mountain Manor

Gold Mountain Manor continues to receive great reviews from travel writers, newspapers and guests. Enjoy a few of our reviews from "Escape Los Angeles Magazine" and "Outside Magazine".

From "Escape Los Angeles Magazine"
Big Bear - Gold Mountain Manor Owners Trish Gordon, a former event planner, and husband Jim, a former catering exec, know how to treat guests. She makes the creamy milk baths; he's responsible for the tongue-and-groove walls in the three Jacuzzi suites and splits the wood for the fireplaces. Pooches Mat and Cappy make themselves available for attention on a first-come basis. The seven room Adirondack-style lodge is made for romance; surrounded by old cedars and ponderosa pines, it's on the flight path of pelicans, egrets, great cranes, and eagles and next door to the San Bernardino National Forest. After hiking or snowshoeing , an inroom candelight massage can be arranged before a feefall into a down-comforter-covered bed. Breakfast is the big meal (peaches and cream's a favorite), and the den, which has satellite TV, a pool table, and furniture made of local woods, provides another lazing venue.

From "Outside Magazine"
By the time you reach Gold Mountain Manor, a 1928 log-cabin inn on the north side of pine-rimmed Big Bear Lake, two hours east of Los Angeles, the transformation from cranky commuter to mellow mountain dweller should be complete. Any remaining stress can be treated with the owner's homemade milk bath dissolved in a claw-foot tub. Wrap yourself in a plush robe and doze off next to the in-room fireplace. Wake to a candlelit breakfast of banana fritters and strawberry crepes. Then hike it off on a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail, which passes through the San Bernardino National Forest in the inn's backyard.
