Meet the Owners of Gold Mountain Manor
About the Odells
Darrin and Amy both grew up in Redlands, CA living within a mile of each other. They met at the age of 14 and began dating at 17. As high school sweethearts, they continued to date off and on throughout college. Darrin attended the University of California, Riverside transferring to Seattle University in his junior year. He graduated from SU with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business. Amy attended Riverside Community College transferring to California State University San Bernardino. She graduated from CSUSB with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a Paralegal Studies Certificate.
After completing her degree, Amy joined Darrin in Seattle where they lived, played, and grew together, eventually marrying in 1998. They resided in Washington for 25 years raising two children, Maddy and Aiden.
Darrin became a highly successful recruiting manager, responsible for hiring top-level executives and engineers through both in-house and contract recruiting positions. He also ventured out, creating his own recruiting consultant business in which he offered support to both startups and well-established companies.
Amy tried her hand in the legal world, working with paralegals and attorneys at prestigious law firms in both Seattle and Kirkland, WA but just did not find it to be rewarding. Her love of children, activity planning, and desire to educate, led her to create, license, and run her own private preschool. She made a very successful name for herself in their community with her preschool having a consistent waiting list for enrollment.
A New Adventure
As their children grew and started to become more independent, Darrin and Amy began to ponder a new career adventure together. As entrepreneurs, having enjoyed staying in boutique hotels as well as quaint bed and breakfast establishments, they always talked about running their own hospitality business together someday. So... why not now??? They began researching and touring different types of hospitality businesses when they came across the Gold Mountain Manor. There was no question that this was their destiny!
The manor is a dream come true for the Odells. They are active owners who are there to welcome you upon your arrival. You will find them in the kitchen each morning preparing a delicious, gourmet breakfast personally for you. They are enjoying each day, meeting new people as well as getting to know returning guests, hosting weddings, and embracing all the magic the manor brings. They are passionate about creating an upscale, personal guest experience and invite you to come to see for yourself what makes this historic mansion such a special place.
Meet Toni
Toni made Big Bear her home in 2021, moving to the mountains in search of a more peaceful lifestyle. She immediately fell in love with the magic of the manor and all its history. She enjoys getting to know each guest and takes pride in creating an exceptional experience for all who stay at the manor. Her meticulous work ethic, conscientious and ethical character, ambitious attitude, and kind hearted personality make her the perfect fit for our team. We are so grateful and truly honored to have Toni as a member of the Gold Mountain Manor family.
